Two Player MBira
In the Winter of 2008 Bobby Bray and I built a two player Mbira. It was a project for Miller Pucketts acoustics class. The instrument's function was to produce beating and attempt to harmonize pitch and rhythm.. One side of the instrument was tuned in the stand equal temperament fashion. The other side was slightly out of tune. The difference in frequency is related to the amount of beats you hear per second. The higher octave was turned 9 hz from the standard frequency and the lower octave was turned 3 hz off.
